Hints of the Holy Spirit - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon
Friends, we’re getting very close to Pentecost, the great feast of the descent of the Spirit. And on this Sixth Sunday of Easter, the Church gives us three readings that are hinting at the Holy Spirit-a kind of foretaste of that descent.
Mass Readings:
Reading 1 - Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48
Psalm - Ps 98:1, 2-3, 3-4
Reading 2 - 1 Jn 4:7-10
Gospel - Jn 15:9-17

The Apostle of the Blood of Christ: St. Catherine of Siena
Переглядів 106 тис.День тому
Friends, on this feast of St. Catherine of Siena, I invite you to watch the “Pivotal Players” episode about her life and vocation. Though this fourteenth-century mystic and Doctor of the Church never studied theology, and in fact never formally learned how to read or write, her life constitutes a powerful challenge to the flattened-out secularism of our time. St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us...
The Enduring Relevance of St. Thomas Aquinas
Переглядів 51 тис.День тому
Friends, most in contemporary secular culture have probably never heard of the name “Thomas Aquinas.” However, his thought remains more pertinent than ever-not only to theology and philosophy but also to current conversations on how to build a more stable, just, and prosperous political order. Today, we discuss the evergreen genius of St. Thomas Aquinas and how his legacy continues in the life ...
It’s Time for Some Pruning - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon
Переглядів 204 тис.День тому
Friends, the Lord Jesus Christ is not a teacher from a distant age, not someone from long ago we remember fondly, not a moral exemplar; rather, he is a field of force. We don’t just listen to him or imitate him; we live in him. Our Gospel for this Fifth Sunday of Easter gives us one of the most beautiful and powerful images for this truth: Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. But there i...
Three Qualities of a Good Shepherd - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon
Переглядів 179 тис.14 днів тому
Friends, we come to the Fourth Sunday of Easter, known as Good Shepherd Sunday. Jesus says in the Gospel, “I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” What is it about that image that sings to us across the ages, from the pages of the Bible to the present day? What I want to do is reflect on this image of the shepherd-first, in relation to Jesus, then second, in r...
D.C. Schindler: What Is the Highest Good?

Friends, we all have some “summum bonum” or highest good-something that positions everything else. In this clip, D.C. Healing Antisocial America
Переглядів 75 тис.21 день тому
Friends, a recent article in The Atlantic magazine highlights the crisis of isolation befalling the United States. Americans have never been-or felt-more solitary, especially the younger generations. And the consequences are often fatal: loneliness is a major cause of the recent spikes in depression, anxiety, and suicide, which are at unprecedented levels. Today, we discuss the loss of our soci...
What Happens After We Die? - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon
Переглядів 272 тис.21 день тому
Friends, this week, on the Third Sunday of Easter, we have a passage from that magnificent twenty-fourth chapter of Luke-one of the appearances of the risen Christ to the Apostles. When we’re talking about the Resurrection, we’re talking about the central point of Christian faith, the hinge upon which the whole of Christianity turns. So to understand what we’re dealing with here is exceptionall...

Do You Struggle to Believe? - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon
Переглядів 211 тис.Місяць тому
Friends, on the Second Sunday of Easter, we have the inexhaustible reading from the twentieth chapter of John-one of the accounts of the Resurrection appearances of Jesus. These are in many ways the core texts of our Christian faith, so it behooves us to spend some careful time looking at them. This week, I want to reflect on the shalom (peace) that the risen Christ offers his disciples-and the...
Euthanasia and the Culture of Death
Переглядів 62 тис.Місяць тому
Friends, Pope St. John Paul II used the term “culture of death'' in his 1995 encyclical Evangelium Vitae to capture the secular world’s dark confluence of poisonous ideas and practices that lead-directly and indirectly-to spiritual and physical ruin. Sadly, we’ve seen the the culture of death advance on many fronts. Today, we focus on the increasing legalization of assisted suicide in the Unite...

Evidence of the Resurrection - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon

Friends, a very happy and blessed Easter! We come to the climax of the Church’s year, the feast of feasts, the very reason for being of Christianity. Everything in Christian life centers around the Resurrection. And the Church gives us, every year, the account of Easter morning from the Gospel of John. I want to bring out just one feature that John especially draws attention to-namely, the buri...

That was very interesting and sound except for 'sentimentalising'. i dont think this accurately describes the experience. Once you know someone who you love, you perceive more clearly nuances and realities that they face. You see how principles can fall short if they are the exclusive armory for moral decision making. Its important to acknowledge complexity of the particular as well as principles when it comes to moral reasoning and agreed public laws that everyone follows. When you state something is sentimental you denigrate it to something that is not worthy of proper attention. The danger is that this leads to arguing a position that is weaker in two ways. It doesnt properly acknowledge the experience of those who are impacted by no gay marriage and also it can make him/ her who argues appear, and perhaps be (language is powerful) 6insensitive / inhumane. I hold the catholic position on gay marriage, by the way. I suppose the approach I have described here, means that I would always state in such arguments that legal recognition of committed gay relationships is important to protect and honour those commitments (around finances, medical decisiin making etc)
Beautiful sermon…..let me not fall asleep and remember this all the days of my life. It’s this eternal truth that brought me to my knees at the foot of the cross. There is no power that comes close to this. I surrender my self…and if I have only one prayer in my life it is that this would be revealed.
Excellent video, it has helped me! 😊
🔥🔥🔥
0:10 who needs this man's teaching. God alone reveals his Will especially those who call ABBA father.
We are not saved by faith alone, "we are saved by grace thru faith, and not of our own works." And, "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. "And without faith, it is impossible to please God." The works come from God and that is the love of god, indweling in us by his holy spirit.. read 1corinthians 13:1
Great sermon from Bishop Baron. Very thoughtful and helpful. A good reminder of the importance of worshipping God and not ourselves and our own interests.
God bless you Jonathan and Dallas❤.
… what a supremacy!😮
So true❤
Thank God for Ben Shapiro ❤ Thank God for Bishop Barron ❤. Thank God for the Bible Old and New 🙏
Will pray for those people in The Atlantic, as per your admonition Bishop Barron. Thank you.
Encouraging
Ok sure, let’s presume this is true, it is necessary for evil to exist in order to have good. But how does this reconcile the very concept of animal suffering in the slightest? This argument fundamentally fails to address the sheer magnitude and pointlessness of a LOT of suffering, like childhood disease and natural disasters, with the presence of an Omni benevolent god.
Bishop thank you for this. Very timely. How do we make this offering?
Fantastic movie. Sorry that a transformer didn't come say hi in the middle of it, Bishop.
Outstanding!!! TY, Bishop. God bless!
I usually agree this Father on most things, but this is what is called beating around the bush. Amen.
Wow, Bishop Barron, I never perceived it as you explained it. Many thanks! You are a great gift to us as Catholics and a giant messenger of Our Lord. God bless you as you continue to walk in His light.
I'm currently buddhist but now leaning more into catholicism, i also prayed to Rosary these recents, please pray for me
Thank you Bishop
Lord, please give us the grace of humility. Thank you Bishop Barron for this spiritual awakening. May the Lord's countenance be upon you always, as God's consecrated servant. God bless.

Atheists are saved? Yeah ok,
Thank you Bishop Barron. ❤
I so blessed, my daughter has Down Syndrome. I’m always needed 🌹💕
When you disconnect Holy Tradition from worship, insanity reigns.
I thought the moral was that God can reward whoever he pleases however he pleases . In any case there are many rooms in my father's house.
Political rhetorics has distorted semantics, even etymology to obscure the obvious!!! But the clarity of truth shines over it
Agreed
STOP PROPAGANDA BULLSHIT THEY TRIED TO KILL MANY PROPHETS AND THEY DID THEY WAS AFTER JESUS THEY CELEBRATE IN ISRAHELL THAT THEY KILLED THEM I SAW THEM STOP THIS BULLSHIT
The Holy Spirit dwells in the Catholic Church since 33AD He leades, guides defends; protects her to proclaim all truth!!!
May my father's soul rest in peace. Amen.
I believe that priests and nuns who are celibate are closely identifiable to our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the Blessed Virgin Mary because Jesus was celibate and detached from the things of this earth and so was the Blessed Virgin Mary. I believe that priests and nuns are a good representation of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary to us all.
Serious question and im sorry if I cause any offense. But if god wants us to enjoy life and live through joy, why are certain mortal sins like fornication and list viewed so terribly?
Fr. Barron REAL careful not to say "jew" in this one.
Leviticus 26;33 Jews were scattered among all nations because of wickedness. I love Jews but i dont like priests that mislead people.
Thank you! I want to come back to the Lord!
God never said break every commandment.
They were scattered smong all nations 2000 years ago . Wonder why ?
In America. "All men are created equal", unless you are green, brown, black or yellow... and lately, you are white in your mother's womb!!! You are not human!!!
Amen✝️ God the Lord the Light ✝️💞❤️
❤❤❤
Can you be sure the Church would have been better today had the council not taken place? Also, some argue Latin Mass communities are so averse to coming in full communion with Rome in order to preserve practices of pediphilia so rampant in those groups. I am trying to honestly and openly explore this, so I would appreciate any thoughtful responses to these claims.
How can Biden be referred to as a Catholic? He lies, plagerizes, betrays America by not protecting the citizens, supports abortion🙇🏻♂️among other things.
Congrats bishop barron!
